Context

  • So, as I said here (Youtube series idea - doing all the A Levels):
  • At first I made a “I’m going to see how much business I can learn in a week!” day 0 video, with the plan being that I’d just show my typical workflow like e.g. what I used in my recent ~3 day “learning astrology” sprint
  • However then I was thinking about how like, “what is the tangible output of this learning sprint?”, and how it’d just be “I made flashcards and I know more now I swear!”
  • And I totally could write stuff here about what I’ve learned, and continue learning, but still, didn’t feel super compelling
  • So yeah, had the insight that an A Level is a legit thing, let proof-of-learning, and very compelling to me personally as someone who has always felt like I wish I did different A Levels (and tbf, the more I write about this, the more I think about this explicitly, the sillier it feels. But at the very least, I’d like to learn about business (and economics, and probably maths) and an A Level is a great way to actually learn the stuff, have a real curriculum, real stakes etc)

Open questions about the video

  1. Should it be a video: “I’m going to do x” (e.g. “I’m going to pass A Level Business in 1 month”), or should there be no announcement video, it’s just “I passed A Level Business in 1 month”
    • Intuition: it should just be a self-contained video
  2. Should it be something other than A Level, e.g. “I passed the Harvard Business School 1st Year Exam in 1 month”
    • A Levels are UK-specific to not legible to e.g. Americans, Canadians etc. But there’s something personally compelling about the whole “I’ve always regretted my A Levels so now I’m going to be agentic and do them myself”. Also feels like “Adult goes back to school” is better than “adult does 1st year undergraduate degree”, somehow. The back-to-school narrative. And the “it’s compelling to me” path feels important, following most aliveness (Chanda)
      • The final boss here is a Maths A Level (and then “Further Maths” if I was feeling crazy)
  3. Shape 1: can I do the Business Studies AS Level in 1 month?
    • How many pages of the textbook are there?
    • How many pages of the textbook would be required per day?
  4. Shape 2: can I do both AS Level and A Level in 1 month?
    • Twice the volume but gets the video finished ASAP
    • But I’m juggling other stuff right now, like coaching/co-thinking, job applications, dating etc. Do I want to sprint on this? Opportunity cost?

Open questions about the channel

  • Current imagined shape1 is:
    1. Can I pass the Business Studies AS Level in 1 month? (June 2026)
    2. Can I pass the Business Studies A Level in 1 month? (July 2026)
    3. Can I pass the Economics AS Level in 1 month? (August 2026)
    4. Can I pass the Economics A Level in 1 month? (September 2026)
    5. Can I pass AS Level Maths in 3 months? (Oct-Dec 2026)
